I visited Dr. Porter's office when on a short trip to Spokane. I was having lower back pains from an old injury.
I was quite impressed with the professionalism of his office. I liked the way he did the x-rays and explained everything to me. He thoroughly went over the procedure he recommended and its purpose, helping me to understand what he wanted to accomplish and how, and giving me confidence in his plan, and in him.
He has an excellent way of adjusting, putting me totally at ease. He seems to have a special feel for what he does.
I felt better immediately. After a few adjustments the pain was completely gone and I felt great. I would heartily recommend Dr Porter and his office.
An end to chronic migraines Erryn from Spokane, WA
As a young female I started out life with not so great posture. I developed as a woman early and to an extensive degree. Which only worsened my posture and overall back health. I started suffering from scoleosis, compression fractures, well as migraines. The kind that start and dont stop, for anything. I was truly debilitated by my condition. I was missing more and more school as well as social activities. I was in constant discomfort and pain for years. Previously to seeing Dr. Porter I tried medications to prevent the headaches, then to treat the pain, as well as accupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy as well as a few inpatient hospital procedures. Nothing seemed to help for long. I eventually had a breast reduction which removed a huge excess of breast tissue but my back was still in bad shape, as was my poor neck and head. I heard from a friend that Dr. Porter had done wonders for her and had nothing to lose. I went in for my consultation and immediately felt comfortable and welcomed and encouraged that he could help. We started adjustments 3 times a week for a period then 2 times a week and we're finally down to once a week. My migraines are few and far between and my posture has never been better. I look better, I feel better, and I know that my body is properly aligned. I truly am grateful for Dr. Porters help and treatment as it has changed my life. I live a much healthier and productive life now as well as my self confidence being what it should be. Both Dr. Porter, his secretary Katy, as well as their fill in receptionists are amazingly warm, caring, and friendly and make a wonderful healing environment. Saved From Surgery Patti Citrin from Phoenix, AZ
In November, 2007, I was in for the surprise of my life. After 52 years of great overall health, my back suddenly ‘went out’. In a flash I was crippled: mostly bedridden and in excruciating pain, and barely getting about with a cane and a wheelchair. All I had done was a deep hip-opening yoga pose, and snap, life as I knew it was over - boy, what we take for granted until we lose it.
Not partial to conventional medicine, after three days the pain forced my hand and I went to see a trusted M.D. friend of mine. He loaded me up with pain pills and muscle relaxants. The hospital refused to give me X-rays without anesthesia to straighten me out, as I was bent over -- torso parallel to the floor, and I could not straighten my legs. I refused the anesthesia and went home hoping for the best.
I immediately called Dr. Jerry Porter. He urged me to find a chiropractor locally (Phoenix) who does Structural Correction, or to come to Spokane and get treatment. I opted for local treatment: the holidays were coming and I had plans. And besides, flying was unthinkable in my condition. But, we couldn’t find a local Structural Correction chiropractor.
So, I decided to try a traditional chiropractor locally. And I found one who I was told was “gifted for injuries”. In the first visit he told me he would probably have me out of trouble in 3 visits. 5 visits later he was deeply concerned and telling me about cortisone shots and decompression therapy as hopeful alternatives to possible surgery. He suspected I had a ruptured or herniated disc (a diagnosis two medical doctors concurred with based on symptoms), and then showed me pictures of discs bulging so much they couldn’t go back into place.
I thank God for Dr. Porter, who insisted his method could help me where all others failed. 5 weeks had passed. I was on a plane the next day, arriving in Spokane, hurting and doubled over. Dr. Porter treated me that night, and in the first 10 minutes, I was standing nearly straight for the very first time in weeks. And to my utter amazement and that of my family’s I could walk without a walker or a cane -- slowly, but I could walk! 3 1/2 weeks later he sent me home, in great shape.
Of course, for the severity of my case ongoing treatment is to be expected for complete correction of the spine. And sure enough, a couple of months later I again had a problem and Dr. Porter again got me out of it. This time it wasn’t as quick, but now I am straighter than the first time, and Dr. Porter thinks I may be through the worst of it.
I am again living a normal life, and enjoying the things I used to take for granted, like being pain free and walking and swimming. I’m not running or jumping yet, but with the continuing improvements I am noticing every week, I don‘t think that is far off. Now, when I see people on the street -- so many I never noticed before bent over at the neck, shoulders or waist -- I want to cry out, “you can get help for that!” Writing this is my way of doing that.
Dr. Porter seems instinctively to know exactly what to do in every subtle nuance, every step of the way. His skill level is exceptional.
