The History of Good Samaritan Society – Spokane Valley
We are built upon the dreams and generosity of others. The late Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Tschirley laid our foundation, donating the first 165 acres of land. Spokane Valley citizens who recognized the need to care for the elderly close to their homes and families supplied the framework.
Opened in 1958, our home initially served 43 residents. Today, we can accommodate a village of 266. As the needs of our community grow, so do our services. Spokane Valley Village is now offering cottage homes as an addition to our 200-acre campus. When completed, Spokane Valley Cottage Homes will be a 28-duplex development for the actively retired.
With the pine-draped hills of Greenacres, Wash., as its backdrop, the Village offers rooms with a view and much more. It is conveniently located near physicians’ clinics and Valley Hospital and Medical Center. On-campus facilities include a skilled nursing care center, Village Inn assisted living units, Tower’s apartments and duplex cottage homes. A smoke-free environment and a full complement of services from rehabilitation to recreation contribute to the overall spirit of wellness.
